ESTONIA IN A WEEK
This tour takes you to the places you should visit during the limited number of days in order to get to know Estonian culture, nature and history.
Tallinn – the capital city
Arrival. Transfer from airport, sightseeing by bus. Check-in at a hotel. Walking tour in the Old Town of Tallinn. Dinner in the hotel.
The National Park Lahemaa
Short hike in the Viru Moor, visiting the manor houses, old fishing villages. Accommodation in the town of Rakvere.
Northern Estonia & Narva
On the way to Narva we take a look at the Estonian highest water fall and the highest limestone cliff. The region is also known as the industrial region. We pass some of the typical Soviet industrial towns and visit an oil-shale mine. Visit of Narva – Estonia’s eastern-most and the third largest city where the imposing Narva Fortress dates from the Danish rule in the 13th century. On the way to Tartu it is possible to visit Estonia’s only cloister Pühtitsa Convent, est. in 1892. Accommodation in Tartu.
Tartu, Viljandi, Pärnu
After the sightseeing in Tartu, we drive to Viljandi, where we visit the Castle Park, where the German Knights of the Sword built Viljandi Order Castle, which was allegedly the largest fortress in the Baltics. After Viljandi we drive to Pärnu - the most important summer resort in Estonia. Accommodation in Pärnu.
Sightseeing in Pärnu, then drive to Estonia’s biggest island Saaremaa. Visiting the old villages and churches and lake Kaali, which was formed by a meteorite crash ca 3000 years ago. Accommodation in the capital of the island – in Kuressaare.
Sightseeing in Kuressaare and in the northern part of Saaremaa. Then back to the mainland, where we stay overnight in Haapsalu – a romantic resort town.
